1. This story is part of a sub-series (titled The Leonidas Chronicles) releated to the series known as What If: A Star Trek Series.
2. Main characters of this story and all of the stories set in The Leonidas Chronicles are the crewmembers of the U.S.S. Leonidas (NCC-538-A), an Ares-class starship.
3. The CO of the Leonidas is Captain R'Mau, a Caitian, who served for years under the command of Captain T'Vok, becoming her XO aboard the U.S.S. Europa (NCC-1648-E).
4. The title of the story, No Time Like the Present, recalls a TOS novel (No Time Like the Past), written by Greg Cox and published in february 2014.
5. One of the characters is Lieutenant Thissen ch'Vatross, an Andorian chaan who we had seen at least once, in the story titled Far Horizons.
